Logline

LOST + FOUND is a faith-based drama about seven school teachers who are at a crossroads in their lives and must choose whether or not to listen to a mysterious stranger who knows everything about them.

Short Synopsis

Eight middle school teachers are participating in a school scavenger hunt. Ruth is in an abusive relationship with Jack. Another teacher, Conlan, has eyes for Ruth. Throughout the day, the kind-hearted Custodian speaks to each teacher individually with words of encouragement and advice. Ruth discovers Jack’s horrid criminal past and breaks up with him. Jack retreats to the roof, where he has flashbacks of his abusive childhood. He forces Ruth onto the roof. Conlan finds them and fights Jack. Jack is about to stab Conlan with a pocket knife, when The Custodian rescues him. A circular wound is apparent on the wrist of The Custodian. However, the wound was not from Jack. “These are very old,” the Custodian says. Over a year passes and Jack is in prison. The Custodian visits and asks Jack if he knows what Jack’s last name, Renato, means. The Custodian reveals that it means, “reborn.”

Breakdowns for Major Characters

Ruth Thompson

Ruth is a timid Kindergarten teacher trapped in her relationship with Jack, one of the gym teachers. She is estranged from her parents, Eli and Naomi, because of Jack. She claims that her relationship is fine but the bruise on her wrist says otherwise. 30s.

Jack Reese

Jack is one of the gym teachers. He is verbally rough with his students and even worse to his girlfriend, Ruth. He may have a sketchy background. He allows the pain from how he was treated during his childhood to affect how he treats others. 30s.

Conlan Greenland

Conlan is a real life cartoon character. He teaches special education and his gimmick is that he is a super teacher. Conlan keeps a bath towel tucked in the back of his shirt, projects his voice to the heavens, and stays in character nearly all the time. Despite his antics and appearance, he is very intelligent and loves to make people laugh. Conlan just wants to have fun and enjoy life. He also has eyes for Ruth. 30s.

Sage Greenland

Sage is the twin sister of Conlan and his complete opposite. A no nonsense, very serious girl. She is the English teacher. When work is due, it has to get done. No exceptions, no fooling around. 30s.

Mark Corodon

Mark is the other gym teacher. He is tall, muscular, and kind, even to Jack. His eyes tend to catch Sage but she is too busy to notice. 30s.

Paul Patmos

Paul is a wise-guy that people love to hate. He has a quick wit and enjoys to stir the pot, but deep down has a good heart. Paul teaches ESL at the school. He cannot stand Jack. The tension between them is unknown amongst the other teachers but seems to go back a long ways. Paul likes to purposely annoy and hang around his coworker, Mariam. 30s.

Mariam Delos

Mariam teaches Chemistry and has developed a bond with Ruth. She sees past Ruth’s excuses for Jack and genuinely wants to help. Mariam also gets preoccupied with her looks and is obsessed with beauty magazines. She finds Paul irritating yet she cannot help but engage in his verbal antics. 30s.

The Custodian

The Custodian is kind, loving, and compassionate; yet tough as nails. There is something about him that draws everyone he meets to him like a magnetic beam. Everyone except Jack. 30s.

Eli & Naomi Thompson

Eli and Naomi are the parents of Ruth. They pray day and night that Ruth would leave Jack and return home not just to them but to her faith in Christ. 50s.

Inspiration

After watching a TV show that depicted a scavenger hunt, I wondered what it would be like to encounter God in a situation such as this. God comes to us in times that we never expect. Adding to this concept my teaching background, I feel that God has led me to put together a very special story.
